Chicago Print

I've been to Chicago many times, but Jennifer, despite the fact that she's been all over the world, had never been there, and neither had Duane.  When we planned to go to Taryn's wedding, we decided to spend two nights in Chicago on our way back home.

It was unfortunate that Sue couldn't join us, because we really enjoyed Chicago.  It's a great city and the brief time we spent there was a real pleasure.  We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel on Wacker Drive, a block from Michigan Avenue and right in the thick of things.

I took Jennifer to dinner at Green Zebra one night while Duane stayed in with Christopher, and the next night I took Duane to the Chicago Chop House while Jennifer stayed in with Christopher.  I'd been to Chicago Chop House several times before and it was still great; the quintessential city steakhouse.  Green Zebra was fabulous too--a very odd combination of a restaurant that is almost totally vegetarian where the food was excellent.  I highly recommend both places.

We took the river cruise offered by the Chicago Architectural Foundation and we learned a lot while enjoying the scenery.  We didn't have time to go to the Shedd Aquarium or the Notebaert Nature Museum, as we wanted, but we did visit Millennium Park twice, which is beautiful and a testament to good city planning.

We'll come back for a family vacation visit.  In the meantime, if you want to see my photos of this trip, click the thumbnail below.
